Ratenggaro: Peaked Roofs and Stone Tombs
Ratenggaro, Southwest Sumba 3 hours 10+
A community-hosted afternoon in a southwest Sumba clan village where the river meets the sea and the tombs stand in front of the houses.
Ratenggaro's clan houses carry heirlooms in their very high peaks, and its stone tombs record family history in front of the doors. The visit is arranged with the community: a host from the village walks you through, sets what may be photographed, and takes you down to the river mouth as the light drops.
