Bamboo Craft in Penglipuran
Penglipuran, Bangli 3 hours 10+
Split, shave and bind bamboo in Ketut's workshop, where every house in the village still buys its ceremonial containers.
Penglipuran sits inside a protected bamboo forest, and the village's carpenters still supply the ceremonial vessels used across Bangli. You spend a morning at the bench learning to split a culm cleanly, shave a strip and bind a simple sokasi basket you take home.

Meet Ketut
Village elder and bamboo carpenter · Penglipuran, Bangli
Ketut has served three terms on Penglipuran's customary council. He decides, with his neighbours, which parts of village life visitors may join — and which stay closed. He would rather explain a ceremony at the gate than sell a seat inside it.
